ETSP Virtual Summer Olympics 2020

With the 2020 Olympic Games postponed, and schools' sports days cancelled, we have launched our own ‘ETSP (Virtual) Summer Olympics’. Our event is fully inclusive, for ETSP pupils of all ages and abilities, whether they are in school or at home. We are so excited!

Each school will represent a country of their choice; we have entries from Great Britain, Jamaica, Poland, Spain, Sri Lanka and Turkey. Each child can enter five activities, choosing at least one activity from each of the following categories: Active, Creative and Educational. Activities include some sports day favourites, designing an obstacle course and our Tokyo reading challenge - which school can read the 5,983 mile journey to Tokyo first? More books = more miles!

ETSP art competition

In the Spring term pupils from years 5 and 6, and students from years 7, 8 and 9, were asked to produce a 2D piece of artwork using drawing, painting or printing, or a 3D sculpture, which addressed the theme of ‘fragile’. We had planned to hold an exhibition at Chace Community at the end of the term to showcase the shortlisted entries from each school however the Covid-19 situation meant we had to cancel. We are pleased to be able to share some of our schools' entries in our online gallery. Click here for the gallery.

Big Bang @ ETSP STEM project and fair - cancelled

We are sorry to announce that the Big Bang @ ETSP due to take place at Chace Community School, on 7th and 8th July 2020, has been cancelled.

We have been actively monitoring and following advice about Covid-19 over the past weeks. The unique nature of The Big Bang Fair – an indoor, hands-on interactive event for hundreds of young people from across our school community – means that we feel this is the most appropriate decision to take at this time. We wanted to announce this decision as soon as we could to give as much notice as possible.

The Big Bang Fair is only possible thanks to the support of volunteers, exhibitors and activity providers. We hugely appreciate this continued support for our mission to inspire more children and young people to consider a career in STEM.

We are very disappointed not to be in a position to go ahead as planned. We understand that cancellation of the event will be disappointing to you and we hope to announce how to get involved in our rearranged event (in July 2021) as soon as possible.

Our 'community home school'

Schools may be closing but the work hasn't stopped... We don't want anyone to feel isolated because they are unable to attend school. To bring everyone together (virtually), we're planning to showcase pupils' work at home each week on our 'news' page to celebrate their achievements, book reviews, creativity and original home-working ideas.

Parents/carers we need your help with this... Please can you email a photo of your child's work including their first name, year group, school and a brief description to info@etsplondon.org. We will try to share as many of your photos as possible. To align with all our schools' safeguarding policies please do not include your child in any photograph. We look forward to seeing your submissions.

Coronavirus

On Wednesday 18th March 2020 the Government announced schools would close to all pupils except those who are children of 'key workers' and those who are 'most vulnerable' including those with social workers and EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans). In response, it is with great sadness that we are postponing all our upcoming events, including all our community outreach / adult education provision, until May (at the very earliest).

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to our schools, teachers and support staff who are continuing to educate and support pupils across our schools during these challenging times. Please stay connected with us on Twitter and / or Instagram (@etsplondon.org).

Take care and stay safe.
